Sleeps: 6
(3 bedrooms)
KEY
This single storey house is situated in its own garden on the
side of a hill with magnificent views overlooking Vidlin Voe and
marina. Decorated and maintained to a high standard, it is fully
furnished and equipped with crockery, cutlery, bedding and towels
for six people. The heating is electric panel heaters.
The Bungalow is 22 miles north of Lerwick, 6 miles from the
main road and 1 mile from the local shop and Post Office. It is
only minutes to the Out Skerries and Whalsay ferries and about
20 minutes to the North Isles ferries.
Vidlin is a picturesque village with plenty of wildlife to see
- otters, seals, birds, etc. Hill walking is easy with plenty
of routes to choose from and the varied coastline is an explorer's
dream. Sea angling can be arranged locally and there are numerous
lochs for trout fishing (permits from the tourist information
centre in Lerwick).
Nearby is Lunna, the original operational base for the Norwegian
resistance movement during the second world war, where small fishing
boats sailed to and from Norway. This operation was known as the
'Shetland Bus'. Lunna Kirk was built in 1753 and is the oldest
church in Shetland, still in use and well worth a visit.
The Bungalow has three bedrooms: one double, one twin and with bunk
beds.
The bathroom has a bath with electric shower, wash hand basin
and toilet.
The kitchen has a four ring electric cooker with grill and oven,
fridge freezer, microwave oven, electric kettle, radio cassette,
TV and the usual kitchen equipment.
There is a TV in the lounge along with books, games, video player,
etc.
There is also a utility area with washing machine, tumble dryer,
ironing board, clothes dryer, etc.
As the house is beside a croft, we regret that no pets are allowed.
Car parking is beside the house.
Cot(s) and high chair (please advise if required) and bed linen
and towels are supplied at no extra charge (please bring own linen
for cot). The electricity meter is read on arrival and electricity
charges will be calculated on your departure. A welcome grocery
pack can be provided on request.
